Cough

I've developed a cough in the last hour or so. I have had a sore throat for around 24 hours, I'm not sure whether its an asthma cough as we have been cleaning a lot more this week than usual.

My question is: I'm not sure whether or not my partner should be kept off of work or not. We live together, and as I'm not certain if its the virus or if its just a cold or asthma related I'm not sure how it works in terms of her being off for 2 weeks if its actually a false alarm. Can anyone advise?

Anyone with symptoms, especially a new cough or a temp, everyone in the house is in isolation for 14 days.

It might not be C19. But that's the case for everyone having to isolate in case it is.

Is this the case even if it turns out it is just asthma causing it?

Unless you are tested, how will you know? It could be C19 causing an asthma flare.

That is very true. I only wanted to clarify so that we can tell her work. Thanks :)

I would hope that any employer will accept "my partner has a new cough which, under government advice, means we both have to isolate for 14 days". Obviously hopefully it's not C19!

I assume they will accept. I'm just wary in case it is an overreaction on my part. Hopefully its nothing but i suppose in these circumstances its much better to be safe than sorry.

Are you able to check your temperature? That'll be the clincher.

Although this is super well-intentioned, please let's all remember that any supplement can have contraindications and should be cross-checked against any other conditions a person has/all medications a person is on. This is why qualified practitioners only make recommendations after a 1:1 health history.

Its not an over reaction, we all have to be super careful with a new cough or a temperature (the guidelines state you quarantine with either of these its not necessary to have both) Its absolutely vital to the nhs that we all follow this. On another note a sore throat is also a common symptom. So please both of you stay in for 14 days, take care of yourselves, I wish you well x

There are apps for phones and links online to check symptoms and what to do. It stores your symptoms and you can go back into it and put in extra information. I'm sorry I can't give you app my daughter did it as I'm useless at technology. I think 90% of the nation and especially those who have chest problems are worried sick. If we follow guidelines and stay safe at home especially with new or more prolonged coughing we can get through this. It's 14 days for you both in isolation if you are coughing. Seek help if you get worse be safe not sorry. 😊

Thanks everyone, woke up this morning feeling more tired than usual but no cough. My steroid inhalers at bedtime seemed to get rid of it. Sore throat is gone as well, but my peak flow is down. I've had a cold for about 2 weeks. Thanks for all your advice :)
