Sore throat/headache/eye pain

EdinburghLass1977 profile image

I moved from Seretide to a Relvar Ellipta and Incruse several months ago. I keep getting headaches, sore throat and eye pain. I’m not sure whether it’s the Incruse or the Relvar causing the problems. Does anyone have any experience of these symptoms whilst on Relvar or Incruse?

I have been on both those inhalers for the past three years. And haven’t had any of the symptoms you are having. Have a look in the leaflet you get with the inhalers that will tell you what side effects you may get.

Thanks. It says headache and sore throat are possible side effects of both of them.

Talk to your doctor and your pharmacist. Some side effects are rare, but if they happen to you, it’s 100% for you, isn’t it?

I’m a big fan of trying other meds so good for you. If your asthma is a significant problem for you and these meds help for, there’s probably ways to deal with those side effects.

I never LIKE having to do that but if the asthma kicks your butt and these newer meds help, it might be worth it.

Thanks x I’m going to try using mouthwash after using them and see if that helps with the side effects. Thanks for your help

Don’t really get dry cough. Just sore throat and headache. I’m a teacher so I just kept thinking I was getting lots of sore throat viruses from the kids...but it’s only just occurred to me it might be my inhaler!

Yes I do, a lot! Never had that with Seretide. I also get sore or dry throat too

Good to know I’m not alone. I’m going to see if I can go back to Seretide or maybe Fostair...at least then I can go back to using a spacer again. Shame Relvar doesn’t come as an aerosol.

Go back to seretide if it worked for you and had little side effects. I was changed from seretide to fostair as was told this was the new `drug` everyone would had to change to as a preventer eventually as service would become unobtainable, the side effects for me where horrific to say the least. It works well for many and don't wish to offend anyone on the site but for me a no go option ever again. We are all individual with choices but if something not broken why try and fix it!!! Why did you change ? 😊

I was advised by my consultant to go onto Relvar...and to be fair it has been great for my asthma...just can’t take any more of the sore throat though. What side effects did you get from Fostair?

Talk to your doctor. What works for one doesn't always work for someone else. I have changed more than 10 inhalers in 20 years...

Uncontrollable shakes, unable to hold a cup or cut food, aches and pains, sore throat and oral thrush constantly. The consultant dismissed these, so was no longer my consultant. I was passed from pillar to post for over 6 months and no help anywhere so this is how I'm on this site. Rang and asked for help, the absolute best!!! Honestly thought I was going insane, My family thought I was dying I was such a mess but fostair free and me now. Chest awful at times but ok😊
