Hi just wondered if anyone else experiences sore throat and loss of voice with hay fever. Been in lock down and not come into contact with anyone other than husband and two kids. Have been having hayfever symptoms past week or so. Realised had same issue this time last year, which doctor put down to a virus, it lasted a couple of weeks. But now suspecting it may have been hayfever. Anyone else experiencing problems like this.

Hayfever and sore throat
I did and I am not now. Try and take some meds to see if it would ease up as I find out soon as I took meds for my hayfever everything went back to normal. Try piriton liquid. If you don't like the taste then place it into a drink and it will hide the taste
I have a tendancy to lose my voice if humidity is too low. And if I get a stuffy nose as I'm breathing through my mouth all the time. And if you're waking up like that you may be mouth breathing all night.
I gargle to avoid sore throats and to protect the voice. And I use Beconase if I have any nasal problems as even a post nasal drip will affect the throat and voice.
And on top of all that, inhaler use is not good for voice health. Rinse and gargle after inhaler use is necessary to avoid problems.
Hope this helps.
I was once talking to some near a lilac bush in blossom. Half way through the conversation my voice just went. No more than a forced whisper. So, yes, it can happen.
Yep im the same, had my window open yesterday morning and my throat was dry and my voice had gone, it went away a bit as soon as I took my piriton
Yes I’ve had exactly this for several weeks. I was thinking hay fever too but not sure. I’m getting over the worst Post viral flare up I’ve ever had at the moment (they think not THE virus but no test so who knows) and I’ve been trialed on several new inhalers recently so was half thinking it could be one of those but not sure. If I hadn’t been shielded for weeks I’d swear I’d picked up another virus. I’m also partly thinking fungal infection because you don’t have to ’catch’ that- it’s just in your system and flares up when immunity is low (and I’m also on oral steroids so immunity is low)
One of your inhalers wasn’t Airflusal by any chance? I was changed to that from Seretide and immediately felt like I had sinus problems and a swollen throat. When I connected the change of inhaler and stopped the Airflusal, all went back to normal. I gave it another go a couple of weeks later to check, with the same result. So it could be the inhaler.
Having said that I actually have an uncomfortable throat at the moment and haven’t left the house for over 5 weeks, so am wondering if it is due to allergies.
Yep. The last couple of weeks pollen and dust have caused a sore throat. It also feels swollen at times along with itcy nose etc. I know its allergies because it lessons when I take fexafenadine.
Sounds very much like hayfever. Pollen levels are very high right now.
Hi I have Asthma and also suffer from hay fever and tend to get a sore throat and it feels as if I need to scratch it, I do t though.
My eyes are occasionally watery however I take a histamine which tends to deal with it.
Yes, me too. Ive been at home, no contact with anyone apart from my family that live with me, and ive had a sore throat and lost my voice for 4 weeks. I take a antihistemine on prescription but not helping.
Thanks for replies, I am thinking of contacting doctor as my medication not sorting out throat also getting bit of asthma. Been on my asthma medication for over a year so don't think it's them. Also careful to rinse mouth after my flutiform.
