I use Holland and Barrett vitamin C and zinc. I suck them as needed when I have a sore throat and one a day seems to work. Also if you drink water out of a bottle, and refill, clean it with Milton every other day...sore throats otherwise.

Gargling TCP; roughly 1 part to 4 parts water can be quite effective at controlling the problem. It's obviously disgusting stuff, but I always try to gargle it as far into my throat as I can without risking it slipping down (very painful) or swallowing too much (which means you can taste TCP all day).

Remedy two for me is a good quality whisky - I think the alcohol has a certain antiseptic quality to it, & I often find a few sips can both anaesthetise the throat & damp down the soreness.

Neither of these are guarantees but both work for me sometimes.

I might try the whisky and a bit of honey 😂

Honey in your tea will help soothe your throat and it will also help with the cough

It's the cough that's the main thing verging on whooping like a bark although improving -im glad the steroids seem to be working...

Hot honey and Ginger drink. If you have any root ginger in the house (we always keep a supply in) put 1tspn of grated root ginger plus 1 tspn of honey in a mug and top with hot water. My favourite tipple when I have a sore throat, cough and cold; I find it very soothing.
