Seretide/Fostair

I have not been well for 6 weeks now after having been really well for quite few months. I have been on steroids that didn't work and have been checked out at hospital. Hospital consultant changed me from lansoprazole to omeprazole as acid reflux is a problem. When I was first ill the asthma nurse changed me from seretide 250 to fostair 106 and the consultant upped it to 206. I was wondering if maybe the fostair is not working for me? Have many people found that they were better on seretide?

Sorry to hear that you haven’t been well. I’ve been on Seretide 500 for 11 weeks and it’s made a positive difference to my asthma. My PB PF has gone up and my average PF is at 88% (compared to 75% prior). My specialist wanted to put me on Fostair but I really preferred to stay with Seretide.

I was keeping well with my asthma stable and a nurse switched me from my 250 Seretide to a low dose Fostair. This was clearly insufficient dosage and not working for me. After a few weeks I had a severe asthma exacerbation and had to have steroids and antibiotics and another same just 3 months later. I requested to be put back on Seretide, as I felt the Fostair was doing nothing for me, and have been fine since then. That was a couple of years ago. The practice manager has since written on my notes Do Not Change the Meds.

Thanks for replying. I have been back on seretide 3 days but no difference yet may take a while as on fostair 106 for 3 weeks and 206 for 3 weeks as well.

SNAP!!! Suffer exactly what you describe when changed from seretide to fostair what a big mistake. I was in such a mess felt terribly unwell and side effects where dreadful, flu symptoms, constant chest infections and the shakes were unbearable to the point couldn't hold a cup or cut food. I went back to seretide and side effects gone, I'm me again. Do become unwell at times but thats asthma but wouldn't take fostair again for a million pounds. They doubled up lansoprazole which does help. What a dilemma!!! you know you health and how you feel if fostair not for you change back. Let me know how you get on 😊

Hi Gilly100

I was on fostair like you and didn't find it helpful for me. I asked to go back onto service and have noticed a difference. I'm am also taking ginger and lemon to help with the inflammationin my airways. Hope you get sorted. Good luck.

How long was it before you noticed a difference? Only 3 days back on seretide after 3 weeks on fostair 106 and 3 weeks on 206. Ginger and lemon sounds good but may affect my gastric reflux. Thanks for replying.
