Sinus Rinses

Hi! So I suffer from severe hay fever and asthma which is mainly triggered from allergies. I currently take Acrivastine antihistamines 3x a day, and Dymista 2x a day, as well as eye drops as needed and Clenil Modulite 2x a day and ventolin if needed. I am suffering quite badly with my sinuses at the moment, I am currently using Sterimar allergy spray rinse 2x a day (pharmacist said to not use more than that due to being on the Dymista) and I was just wondering what rinses any other people found helpful? I'm hoping to speak to my GP anyway in the next week or 2 due to my pharmacy having problems getting Acrivastine in, and I have an ENT appointment next month due to Eustachian tube dysfunction, but I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas of anything else I can do to relieve the sinus pain/pressure while waiting? Decongestants just don't seem to be doing anything either, and only able to take for a few days anyway! I don't think it's a sinus infection or anything like that, just very irritated and inflamed!

I use sinus rinse kit that I bought in Boots and has significantly improved my sinuses. I don't use it any more as a matter of routine except for the occasional rinse.

I’ve used sinus rinses for several years. I use distilled water and a prepared salt. I am presently using an antibiotic and steroid mixture 2 times daily. It has made a tremendous difference in my health. Good luck to you! Hope you get it sorted quickly.

Montelukast can help with sinus inflammation caused by allergies. You can read up on it for yourself, and discuss with your ENT people and GP as to whether it might help.

Thank you! I was given Montelukast last summer and I was so sick, I put it down to the Montelukast, but I was on steroids at the time and had a lot of ear problems (been on steroids since and had no problems which made me think it was the Montelukast)... May be worth me asking my GP if it would be worth trying again... Thank you x

Unfortunately it doesn’t agree with everyone, and there have been a number of posts here on the forum about problems people have encountered. For now, I seem to be one of the lucky ones it does help, and I take mine in the morning so haven’t had the vivid dreams issue. It might be worth another try 🤷‍♀️

Thank you! Yeah I did take them in the morning as when I was on them I was on steroids so I was advised to take them in the morning to try and help with any sleep issues X
