Wet weather!

I am newly diagnosed but I just wondered if anyone else is reacting to this terrible UK weather?? I’ve been on Clenil modulite preventer twice a day for 2 weeks now & it seemed to have worked wonderfully at first, I went over a week without needing to use my Ventolin. The last few days have brought torrential rain & it’s been a bit chilly and my chest feels tight and I’m a bit breathless occasionally, having to use my Ventolin 2-3 times a day. No wheezing & peak flow is ok but I just wondered if it’s down to the weather?

This post has me convinced its due to the weather, in my area for the past 2 weeks the weather has been up and down, hot and cold, ive been needing my ventolin more than usual too.

Totally agree! I'm on clenil too, my big triggers are hay fever and viruses, and although my hay fever has been okay my asthma has flared and I too am back to using my ventolin again, I think it must be the damp changeable weather x

Clenil did not work for me at all! Seretide is brilliant.

Clenil made my asthma worse than ever ! So annoyed that I listened to the doctor as I didn’t want to take it.

Antihistamines were more effective for me and I got rid of my ioniser as I read that they are actually bad !

I’ve been experiencing the same symptoms myself. This wet, damp weather is murdering my chest (exaggeration there but it’s driving me up the wall haha). Over the last week or so (since the weather got damp), my chest feels so heavy- first time I’ve had this symptom for a sustained period and it’s making me feel so tired.

Does anyone else feel exhausted from this too?

in reply toMrsCMK

I can totally relate - I'm completely exhausted and drained from it, it's such a hard form of tiredness to explain/understand unless you've been there too x

Yes, I'm sleeping at least half the day. Then go out for some fresh air (which isn't fresh cos of the mist blowing around. Then back and back to sleep for an hour. Family get to feed themselves, no energy for housework. Been like that a few weeks now.

Yes I’m really struggling with my energy too x

I’m so glad someone else is able to understand this tired feeling (I obviously wish that you didn’t because nobody likes being ill ☺️).

Question for you: do you sometimes feel that your limbs are really heavy (almost like they’re made of lead)? When it gets really bad my body feels like it’s almost moving in slow motion. It’s crazy!

in reply toMrsCMK

Yeah, it's so hard to explain to others or to get them understand! Yep, I feel like that when I get bad, almost like I can't physically move my limbs! It is crazy, horrid! And if I get night symptoms on top too the lack of sleep drives me insane! X

I have only been recently diagnosed 4 weeks ago was put on sabutomal, then went back 2 weeks later but had a chest infection. so on Monday I was put on clenil. it has stopped me coughing through the night now but still only lasting about 2 1/2 hours before needing sabutomal, and have lightened up on the exercise this week. I was shocked at how tired I am and how I can't concentrate. hopefully it kicks in soon.

It is worth remembering that another set of allergens are produced by moulds. Moulds produce spores and these can trigger an allergic reaction. They tend to like the damp.

weather plays a big part and I would in crease it for a few days while u feel unwell. Also cause u not much of wheeze doesn't mean u don't need it more.
