I am asthmatic and allergic to dogs, cats etc. I have just changed career and started working in a care home. On day one I discovered the home has a resident dog. I need to find another home to work in. Is this a common problem for asthmatic care workers and those looking for a care home ? Is there a register of care homes that don't have resident animals ?

Hi
If it’s a real problem for you then when you’re applying for jobs/at interview just ask them if they have residential animals or therapy dogs.
It may also be worth talking to someone at your current job about the situation- I’m sure you’re not the only one in the building with a dog allergy so they probably already have a system in place to help!
Hope that helps x
