I have just got out of hospital after 23 days I went in with viral pneumonia and exasperation of asthma I ended up in itu ventilated for 12 hours then I went to hdu then to the ward I was on iv antibiotics iv steroids then they soon went to oral steroids and it all went wrong when they put antibiotics to oral to well I thought it was that so I had another respiratory arrest on the ward got rushed back to itu with silent chest but full of chest infection so I was ventilated again then I had pressured oxygen therapy as my lungs had gone hard and weren’t absorbing oxygen but I was retaining co2 so after 4 more days I got sent back to ward I was there 3 days and had complete respiratory failure I could not be mechanical ventilated in itu as I had to much so lucky for me there was one of respiratory consultants on the ward who set up the niv and blasted my lungs with massive pressures oxygen as a last hope I got given 10% chance of making it through I got through it how the doctor still says I am his miracle as he could of blown holes in my lungs but he said in his French accent you were dead anyway just what you want to here but I then found out once they cleared the viral infection in the chest they could not work out why i was still so unwell then I died on them and finally some results came back I had been exposed in itu to hospital aquired pneumonia which was very resistant to antibiotics after 6 combinations finally the pneumonia started to ease but what I have been left with is home on non invasive ventilation and hard lungs still not absorbing oxygen very well at the moment I use it 10hours every night and 4 hours during the day I have to carry special warning cards about asthma attacks whilst having this condition as you can’t be ventilated mechanically I have to go back in 3 months to see if my bicarb level is dropping if it isn’t then we are unsure where to go then but trying to not go there right now I am trying to get my head around all that has happened I am grateful I am alive yes I am exhausted weak but on the mend I know I have a fight still but it is one I am determined to win has anyone else had this I have brittle asthma also trigger of viral cold and some allergies which are still trying to find out what sorts what a mess but I just wondered if anyone else has been through similar xx

My heavens! I'm so sorry you went through all that. I sent up a prayer for you. I hope you don't mind my mentioning that.

No I do not mind I have been to hell and back this past few weeks I hope I am on the mend nobody knows enough to know if I will ever be able to get off the ventilator at home in 3 months I go back to see consultant who saved my life and he is going to do blood gas to check the bicarb so it’s rest until then and take it a day at a time x

That's all any of us can do. All we ever have is this moment, right now. Despite all, I hope you can live each one fully.

How fortunate you were to have such a good consultant. Two years ago I was in hospital as an emergency and almost died (not asthma related) and spent time in ITU - thought I was in a spaceship as I was on morphine for pain! Very disorinetating.

It is afterwards that mentally we wonder about it all, as well as the long slow recovery and wondering if and when it will improve. I do believe in God, and am always grateful for prayers and good wishes of others. All you can do is take it a day at a time, fill it with quiet good things as much as you can. You are a strong person to have come through all that and inspiring. I wish you all the best and add a prayer to FearNot's that your health will improve and you will grow stronger.

My goodness - what a horrible ordeal for you. The recovery now is almost as hard as the initial trauma for me.

Sending you healing thoughts for your progress.

I am so sorry to hear you have had, and is still having such a hard time! I hope it will get better, and that in three months you will have some good results.

Poor you. Good job the consultant on the ward, there are Infection Control nurses now and perhaps they will find the source. It sounds like your immune system has taken a battering. Have you appied for Attendence Allowance?. Take great care and go easy on yourself, you have been though the mill lately.

Best wishes.

They have traced the source of the infection it was given to me on admission to itu from a&e I got the bug after they ventilated me they took so sputum from the lungs and it came back positive to acinetobacter Then I had another trip back to itu 6 days after coming out of there I relapsed another twice they just couldn’t find the combination of antibiotics to kill the bug this was a lot of the problem xxx

That’s my problem I am angry I went in with one thing come home with something much worse I am just worried about the amount of bicarb in my blood gasses they want to see this getting better in 3 months if it doesn’t the consultant doesn’t know what else to do so it’s just not over yet I still don’t know what way things are going to go so I suppose I am still scared but hopefully things will be good in 3 months time x

I have just read about American doctor kicked out of Africa for healing Ebola with ozone ...searching that will give the link. This was pushed out by Big Pharma as they were trying for a pharmaceutical solution to Ebola and gave the govt a hard choice. From there I found a link to the Longevity company which manufactures ozone generating equipment.

If I was you I would look hard for a solution.
