Fostair Inhaler

I have just had a Fostair Inhaler prescribed and was a bit sceptical at first - I have been using it for 3 weeks now and am feeling so much better I do have one of the side effects though although it is not too severe - trembling hands... It was a bit disconcerting at first but I am getting used to it.

Glad to hear it’s working for you. I’ve just been prescribed fostair too.. only been taking it 3 days though, hoping it works! If not I’m getting referred on to respiratory specialist. So fingers crossed!

I had been having re-current bouts of chest infection and with constant doctors visits and steroids and antibiotics they finally referred me to the hospital. after several tests and consultants I was told I had Pulmonary oedema exacerbated by my heart valve (replaced 30 years ago) deteriorating slightly - a change of medication and the new inhaler and I am skipping about like a lamb again ( well nearly)…………..

I've been using Fostair 200/6 two puffs two twice a day for 6 months and it's been life changing. Hardly ever need ventolin compared to previous inhaler Flutiforma. Fostair prescribed after hospital admission.

Really hope you get same relief as me. X

Excellent news. I've gone up to the 200 but it's making me far too trembly, so Im seeing consultant Monday and will be discussing it.

I was changed onto Fostair last year and it has made a big difference. On the advice of the Asthma UK nurses I asked for a spacer to use with it and it has cut down the side effects - like you of trembling hands. Still get it but not so bad and it doesn't last for long. (I call then the sugar shakes as if I've just used the Fostair and then try to sprinkle a teaspoon of sugar over my cereal it goes everywhere!). As I understand it this sde effect is not uncommon but wears off and does no long term damage. For me it is a minor side effect when the Fostair works so well.

Interesting to see what the Consultant says Lizzie.

Fostair gave me the shakes at first, but after a few weeks they stopped.

I was changed onto Fostair a few weeks ago and can't help feeling I'm doing something wrong because I've read a number of threads and a lot of people seem very happy with it. (I've had asthma all my life and always used inhalers) Not only am I finding it difficult to breathe and have a bad wheeze, I'm experiencing a whole lot of things that may be a coincidence but I'm wondering if they're a side effect. Like bad cramps, bad headaches, insomnia, rashes, weight gain, now total loss of voice. I use a spacer and always rinse my mouth out. These things could be totally unrelated to the Fostair inhaler but the fact remains I feel like I can't breathe so it seems it's just not working for me. I'm supposed to take 2 puffs twice daily but also to use it as a reliever whenever I want. Maybe I'm not using it enough? Or too much?

Not what you're looking for?
