I am going on holiday tomorrow (always seem to be ill when going away lately). I've just got over a sore throat that I had for 2.5 weeks. It gave me a lot of clear mucus. Since Thursday/Friday I've started to cough, and now I am coughing up a bit of yellow-ish phlegm, but not loads. I am not breathless and at worse peak flow is down to 90%.
Have you ever had coloured phlegm that wasn't a chest infection? I am wondering if it could be from the throat virus. I don't feel ill at all, apart from the cough. I have anti-biotics and steroids with me but I'm reluctant to take them. No time to see GP before I go now. Have you ever been in this situation and improved without antibiotics or Pred? I'm not sure how long to wait before taking them. All of my issue seems to be in my upper airway - lugs feel fine so far. Any advice much appreciated!

look at my post with the same question...the replies might help you determine your question. I feel the same about taking prescription medication too. I do lot of research, and its so frustrating at times because you get different answers. We just have to be our own doctors sometimes, because they don't know everything, only what they have learned from the medical field and not looking at the naturopathic protocols or open minded to more safe protocols. I have to be careful on what I say here because it creates a debate. I love this site because we can help each other, but not everyone is open minded because who they are listening to.
I know the drugs prescribe to you helps but not good re: side affects. I'm experimenting and researching on a couple of more naturopathic approach. I'll share it if it works. I do know that lung inflammation changes the color of your mucus. Getting a phlegm culture test- I feel is the only way to find out for sure.
I joined to get everyone's input on what works and what's causing the chronic symptoms. I still have to work on my own health. I do know what I've learned from my findings is helping me but have a long way to go....
Sorry for the long reply, I haven't been here in a while. I do like to ask questions and share what I have learned.
