I was wondering if there are anyone else who uses magnesium tablets and cod liver oil tablets supplements to boost their immune systems.
I have been doing this for years and whilst I have severe asthma / copd but I never smoked. My asthma is controlled through drugs. I don't really get flare ups hut I used ventolin occasionally.
I believe the boost of magnesium and cod liver oil has done it. Anyone else using.

I also take cod liver oil as well as starflower oil. I don't know if it helps my asthma, I take them for my joints. My asthma is under control and I very rarely have flare ups, in fact so far this has been my best year since being diagnosed.
I take Omega 3 capsules but don't think they make any difference to my asthma. My eye consultant told me to take three capsules a day for dry eyes. I have been reading a lot lately about magnesium but not sure what they are supposed to do.
I use Fish Oil + Magnesium + High Dose Vitamin D + the Ubiquinol form of CoQ10 Daily. Every second day I also take other Vitamins and Minerals including Slow Release Vitamin C. I also take Selenium once or twice a week. My view is that - as Astma is one of several diseases caused by Inflammation - anything that is supposed to reduce Inflammation has got to be worth a shot. I believe that - in addition to meds - an Holistic Appoach to tackling Asthma should be adopted. Also - because your body gets used to every drug after a while - it may be beneficial to change / rotate medication periodically. You have to be careful with Supplements as although anti-oxidants are generally good, eradicating oxidants entirely is not the best approach as some oxidants are essential for signalling to the body to activate defence mechanisms. Hence the reason for not taking most vitamins everyday, only on alternate days. Please note, I 'm not a medical professional, so (as ever) you need to do your own due diligence and check with your Doctor.
Several other Vitamins 'every other day' too, including Zinc
Also, 50% Juice (Blackcurrant) for Polyphenols, plus a diet generally high in Fruit & Veg (including Small Banana each Day for Potassium). Minimum 30 Minutes Walking, Jogging, Cycling or Swimming each Day is also something I see as critical for my Personal Attack on Asthma. Exercise is inflammatory in the short term, but apparently, anti-inflammatory when done regularly (e.g. 3 or more times a week) and is probably equally as good - if not better - than all the Supplements added together.
When I have attacks that require me going into hospital, they always give me a magnesium sulphate drip as I respond well to it. It inhibits the smooth muscles in the lungs/windpipe from contracting and stops me producing histamines.
I'm very interested to know if magnesium tablets will aid with this. I'm sick of the flare ups over the past 6 months.
I use magnesium tablets, too. On page 64 of my book, "Running with Asthma: An Asthmatic Runner's Memoir," I cite a research study showing how magnesium supplements improve asthma symptoms.
