The Dust comming in from Windows,Vents etc is really Bad.
Just been to GP to get inhalers ( Atrovent Neb, been Added to Ventolin and Steroid) 3 X A day.
I cannot avoid the Dust at all, any advice
We went through a high dust phase through work in the house five years ago when we had our kitchen sorted out. Aware of potential dust problems we turned one of our downstairs rooms into a kitchen/living room (got out camping equipment/slow cooker for cooking purposes) moved the television in there and lived out of that room and our bedroom and bathroom for four weeks. Every day after the workmen had gone we donned masks and hoovered the floor/walls/ceiling of the hall, the staircase and the landing which were the areas which might have got hit by dust escaping from the kitchen. All other doors in the house were kept firmly shut whilst the work was going on to reduce the risk of dust contamination to other areas. It nearly drove me mad!
Sometime in the near future we will be getting rid of the stair and landing carpet. We're fairly certain the underlay is in a very bad way and again we're anticipating another high dust situation. I've already said (and my wonderful hubby agrees) that the best option for me when that happens is to stay with friends or relatives while the work is ongoing. Is there somewhere else you could stay until the work is done?
My peak flow increased from 150 to 250-350 average when I removed my stair carpet so I decided not to replace it and smartened up the wood instead ^_^
I've been in a similar situation and within about 6 hours I was so ill I could hardly move. A good friend came to see me, made me throw a few things into a case and then took me back to her house until the work was finished. Go and stay with a friend or relative, book into a cheap B&B or borrow a tent and live in the garden until the work is finished, just get away from the dust as soon as you can.
IF you can go stay with someone else I would seriously advice you do so. We are in the midst of home renovations and when it was at its most dusty I ended up in hospital twice because it made things so severe.
If you can't go stay somewhere else, is there a room which the door can be closed on and kept a bit cleaner?
I said to mum and dad that I would move to their house.
Dad phoned me up and said over my dead body are you staying here, Charming!!!!
Even Mum said go and sit in a park whilst work is being done.
We have 3 days away from them now as BH Weekend. Also I go back to work next week whilst drilling all inside Living Room Starts. Cannot wait
We're living in Kitchen/Chil out room with 2 X Fish Tanks and Tele( small) living room all covered up.
Will be so glad when all over tho
