became very breathless yesterday , and am away on holiday in norfolk, was seen in a&e, was told i have asthma, had nebs, and sent home with steriods, am still very breathless , but they do not give inhalers as a take away drug, so must wait until next week when i am home , any advice,
I hope you're not feeling too bad, if you are do not hesitate to go back to a&e!
You can go to any Dr surgery where you are and be seen as a temporary patient. If you're still.breathless you need to get a reliever really or your symptoms may flare up again.
Take care x
hi!
That must have been scary...seems to me they should have told you more about what to do re getting inhalers etc, as you're new to it. I don't know for sure but would have thought you could get an inhaler from the hospital pharmacy?!
I don't know if a walk-in centre might be able to help with getting an inhaler, if there's one near you? Or I think you can see a GP by appt at a local surgery even if you're not registered - just explain the situation and they should give you a visitors' note. I've not done it myself but at uni we had to register with the uni practice as we were considered resident in the uni city, and they said if you needed to see a doctor at home you could just get a visitors' note.
Obviously you should still see your own GP when you get home, but think it would be an idea to have an inhaler on hand before then! Maybe as you're so new to this it would be worth ringing the asthma nurse specialist helpline on here - number top left; they should be able to tell you what to do.
Hope you get this sorted and can enjoy the rest of your holiday!
