I have been struggling all week with the humidity. Then last night had a severe red attack, and then had a series of nasty red attacks on and off all day. I had used 20 salamol and 8 fostair doses, my daily limit.
In our area we are not allowed our own nebulisers, so as told to I rang 111 and asked for a nebuliser, as I had run out of treatment options.
111 then said could not send paramedic and sent a full scale ambulance. The local paramedics now only work office hours.
Per ambulance staff, my presentation was not asthma, as I did not wheeze, humidity was not a standard cause of asthma, and I was last admitted to hospital in January, so they could not give me a nebuliser as I did not meet the criteria and instead would take me to hospital, which I want to avoid.
Luckily they then found my asthma plan on the fridge and very begrudgingly gave me nebulisers until I was back in amber zone.
Doing this discussion with them when you can not breathe, or talk easily is exhausting and so unnecessary.
The last paramedic I had, just said, is it one nebuliser you need or two
