Hi Wendy
Don't know of this is sny help but I find it easier to breathe at night if I am propped up so I have a normal pillow then a shaped pillow then another pillow on the top. It means I only tend to cough if I wake and move about.
good luck

Sorry to state the obvious BUT increase in night time symptoms can mean your asthma is NOT under control!
Perhaps a trip to the Dr's or GP is in order hun!
But other than that propping yourself up well is best!
But try taking your inhalers/nebs quite close to bed time IF you can cope with that as it may help get you through a bit BUT you do need I think to see a GP!
Absolutely, I agree with Wheezer, night time symptoms are a sign of poorly controlled asthma.
Unless you are already under a specialist, you need to go to see your GP soon, and tell him/her exactly what you've just told us! You might need your treatment stepping up or referral to a specialist.

Wendy, have you been checked for acid reflux? I understand it can cause really bad nighttime problems. Sleeping propped up should help that but it is worth mentioning to your GP or asthma nurse.

lol, not long been to GP! hes quite worried as weve tried salbutamol, beclometasone 250 at 2 puffs twice inntitally and moving up to 4 puffs twice, then we tried serevent and oxis, serevent being most useful, as well as pred for a week. basically, my asthma really doesnt want to come under control, and my doctor is reluctant to try anything else until ive been to see the con, which i am still waiting for and its been bout 5 weeks since the refferal. basically, i cant bring it under control and the doctor is reluctant to try anything at the moment. i will try the propping up tho, i'll see if thats effective and i will try and get in tot he GP and sit down and tell him that this is not only screwing up my sleeping patterns but also my boyfriends.
thanks for your support
I am from Saskatchewan in Canada where the humidity is usually fairly low. But I believe that you guys over in the UK have alot higher humidity. I know that with my 2 sons I have to use a de-humidifer, especially at night in the summer months. It really does help them. Also an air conditioner is a good idea for the summer months. I just turn down the temperature so that it is not so cold at night.
