Asthma and hayfever.....please help...!!!

Hi all

Its been a while since i posted anything........I just really need some advise or tips as my asthma and allergies has been out of control for some time now..........i have been on a dose of steriods for some time now and never really recover *what with cold weather.......general winter illnesses..aggreviating it etc ...and a huge allergic reaction in January...to foods, nuts, red preservatives and e-number's... it triggered my asthma huge again and was not an experience i'd like to repeat...if you catch my drift.....

My point in posting today is i am very sensitive at the moment and just felt better for almost 3 wholae days until the pollen rose yesterday and i had huge coughing asthma attacks.......again yesterday, last night and today............

I am on predisoline....just got down to 3 tabs a day after lots of work, cetirzine, piriton, singulair, seretide 250 x 3 am and pm, reliver when required, nebuliser when required...at least once a week now........progress! ranitidine a newbie- commonly used for ulcers but apparantly is a type 2 anti haestimine recepter.... and an epi-pen for when my reactions and lungs really dont like something.......

Guys have they missed anything please help........I need some life experience input...i am in dispair today....

Thankyou for your time guys any feedback would be hugely of help..

My allergies/asthma flare up worse when I've had resp viruses/chest infections. Last June I had an anaphylactic shock/severe asthma from antibiotics (which I'd had before OK) to treat a chest infection. I was sensitive to all sorts afterwards, I'd feel a bit better then something else would set me off, things calmed down over a period of months, still not 100% but much better now.

Are you still taking Piriton? It knocks me out but seems to have more kick than the others, it's the only thing that shifts pollen/food reactions for me + relieves asthma.

I was once given an allergy friendly diet to follow by a specialist to try and calm symptoms, not everyone recommends it and it was torture - but it helped.

Other things I did was lots of rest and sleep (when I wasn't wheezing and coughing!), decent vitamins, prepared my own food, tried to avoid prolonged contact in small spaces with folk with colds as I was picking things up easily. Also started wearing dust masks when doing housework and began yoga again (good for breathing) once I'd got a bit better.

Good Luck!

Lucy

Try asking your GP or consultant for a stronger antihistamine. There are loads of different kinds availble to try.
