Embarrassing problem!!

I have had it pointed out to me that I have really bad breath at the moment which is so embarassing, I just wondered if it could be a side effect of using Seretide? I use a spacer and wash my mouth afterwards. Can't think of anything else that would have caused it. I asked the pharmacist but he didn't know of it.

hi BooBoo,

since ive been on seretide and singulair ive had a horrid metal taste in my mouth,

Might be worth a visit to the dentist, could be a sign that your dental health needs a check up!

Failing that, Benefit's Californian Kisses is a minty lip balm that makes you feel 'mouth fresh' instantly.

I'm on seretide 250 and feel have to keep brushing my teeth. Embarrassing when out anywhere and in the ladies as my teeth are of the plastic variety and are brushed under the running tap.

Thanks to daughter who introduced me to Benefit and the super lip balm.

yes it could bve , all asthma puffers can give you oral thrush , the spacer helps but aint a be all or end all, mouthwash after puffing is a good idea, and puff before you brush:-) Gaz

Ps before anyone makes jokes about toothless old grannies, I'd like to point out I got my first set in my teens when my baby boomer teeth decayed big style on account of my mum not having enough calcium in her diet. My daughter is on the same route via baby soya milk in the 80s before they started adding calcium to the mix.

post nasal drip and halitosis

Post nasal drip and bad breath can be linked.

This can be eased greatly by switching to nasal breathing.

BY breathing through your mouth, you dry out your tongue, you change the PH of your mouth and this affects your gums and your teeth (dry teeth are not covered in protective saliva).

By breathing through your nose you also reduce the airflow over your tongue that is breathed out inthe direction you are facing so the volume of bad breath air being blown in someone elses direction is hugely reduced thus alleviating the embarrassment factor.

If you learn to breathe correctly then you will reduce your breathing volume further, eliminating post nasal drip and possibly the entire problem.

At times of infection or stress or low health then the bad breath may be more potent.

just a little tip that i read somewhere yesterday and i dont know where but apparently if you sip a glass of milk with a meal that has strong odours in it such as garlic it gets rid of the bad odour that can linger...yep i know its not to do with the asthma meds but it might help, you never know x

Sorry forgot chewing gum will help moisten yer mouth and keep it fresh, also contains an mild anti bacterial in it. Gaz
