hi all

had a routine astham clinic appointment this morning, saw the asthma nirse today where as i normally see a doctor but i was very impressed. i no we all do quite a bit of wingeing about doctors/nurses ect so thought i might post with my praise!!

she didnt rush especially as the surgery specify that all appointment are ten minute appointments if u wish for longer you should ask to book a double appointment, i was in there thirty minutes and didnt feel rushed, she was ruinning slightly late but actually appologised and explained why.

all in all a sucessfull visit, she recommended change the technique i use for my inhalers and demonstrated/taught me, measured my height which made me laugh quite a bit

only down side was my peak flow she said the normal expected rate for someone of my age and height is 420 my best attempt was 350 which is slightly improved from previous visits!

I'm glad you had a good experience, it makes a big difference when they actually seem to have time for you and actually care about you rather than not listening to you and booting you out of the door! I used to have the last appointment of the day so she was always running late and of course she wanted to get home so I was rushed in and straight out again.

I work in a hospital and always make sure I give each patient the time they want and need even if it means running late.

it makes all the difference when the medical prof take time and actually listen and offer usable advice. my gp nurse is good and so are 2 of the docs though i have met some blummin awful docs and consultants over the years and some even worse nurses who some in my person opinion have taken over consultants in their arrogant patronising matter. bring back old school x
