Dear Plumie,

I am on similar medication to you, all for non allergic asthma, as below:-

home oxygen, neb budesonide 2ml x 2, neb ventolin 5ml x 4 + as required, neb ipratropium 500 x 4, neb saline 2.5 or 5 x 4 + as required, fometerol oxis 4 x 2 , pulmicort 400 turbo inhaler 2 x 2, qvar 4 x 2, bricanyl, ventolin inhaler, theophylline, carbocistene, 20mg prednisolone daily, montelukast, alendronic acid, long term clarithromycin daily.

There are a few differences with brands and doses however, as you are so knowledgable i wonder if you could help me with the another question as i am relatively new to asthma?

I remember reading a post of yours on 1st August headed as Finally….

where you said you had been visited by an asthma specialist from a specialist centre who came to visit you with your consultant at your local hospital and gave you a diagnosis. Could you tell me who your specialist is and your specialist hospital please as he sounds so good i'd like to see if he would visit me, save me travelling hours to see mine as i find it so difficult?

Also it reads you had all your extensive tests done at your local hospital for your brittle asthma diagnosis, as you don't mention going to the specialist centre for them, how did you manage to persuade them to do tests locally and the specialist from the specialist centre review them, my specialist insist on his very own hospital doing all tests for the patients he reviews/diagnosis's and again that involves much time and travelling, it would be much better for me to do what you do and get the tests done locally, how can i go about that?

Your help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance Plumie.

Hi

The specialist moved from a specialist centre in July 2010 to work at my local hospital when the existing respiratory doctor retired so it was pure luck. He asked for the tests for me and a few of them he sent me to a hospital a bit further away than my house. I believe it was pure luck or if you have a faith then it was God looking out for me. He is a very good consultant and i am very lucky to be under him and he does his very best for me. Just this week he has been liasing with another of my consultants to try and improve my health.

Sorry if i confused you
