Whenever I end up in hospital my blood gases show that I am very hypoxic and I end up staying for about a week in o2 - is this normal with an asthma attack?

I have also been having problems with my o2 levels after an asthma attacks. This has been happening since ive lots of chest infections. Ive been told that ive got scarring cos of infections and inflammation due to years of brittle uncontrolled asthma. So i surpose my lungs arent working as well as they should and seem to take longer to recover from attacks. Also if i delay going into hospital when having an attack, my o2 takes longer to recover. Prehap it might be worth asking if you could have your o2 levels measured for 24 hours at home using pulse oxy meter? Which is used to see if you need oxygen at home.

Hope you feel better soon
