Hello 1st post
Just been diagnosed with grade 4 chrondosis which means knee replacement.I was gutted to hear this as I’m only 54 and play a bit of golf and try to keep active.All I hear is bad news stories regarding the replacement.Would be devastated if I can’t play the game I love again.Has anyone had a replacement and gone on to lead a normal life again.Also how long does a new knee last for.

friend had both his done, one at a time, four and five years ago. He’s never played golf and he is 86 now but he still gardens and walks.
I have had a half knee replacement and it was the best decision I ever made! No pain and I can walk again. I think you are looking at this situation from the wrong place? The whole point of a knee replacement is to give you back your normal life of walking etc (not put an end to it!) I do walking and yoga and enjoy life and whatever is to come in 10 or 20 years well I’ll deal with that when it comes
had it done when I was 63 (four years ago). Would I have it done again if I needed it? Absolutely yes! In a heartbeat- providing you stick with the post op physio your knee will be just like new

Both hips replaced at 48 and 49 years old as well as both my knees have been replaced at age 53 and 54, my golf game improved significantly!
Hi blacknight,thanks for the reply.Spoke to the consultant and he’s apprehensive about doing the surgery because of my age and possible problems later on but a few people have said your quality of life is more important now so you can enjoy it.Really am in 2 minds but my golf is definitely suffering now like.Lol
