Hello, I first of all want to thank everyone for taking time to reply to me. An update in what has happened with this new GP. I was told that unfortunately a rheumatologist will not see me unless I have a recent diagnosis and that they like to diagnose me, so don’t know how I can see them if they won’t see me unless I’m diagnosed and they are the ones who diagnose me??? But, I have now been for X-rays and blood tests and my GP said when everything comes back to go see her and we will take it from there. So, now back to waiting and see. But again, a huge thank you for all your input and information you gave me.

Jinny, this sounds very odd! As I understand it, only a rheumatologist can diagnose RA. Though I could be wrong. And blood tests are not always definitive.
Best of luck!
Yes, this new GP said to me that as far as she’s has had dealings with rheumatology, they like to be the ones diagnosing things, but they won’t see me unless I have a firm diagnosis. I explained I had been diagnosed as a child, and it was a “full” rheumatology diagnosis and not juvenile rheumatology and was told that because it was many years ago, I’m ancient 😂, 56, it needs a new diagnosis. But I’m at a loss on how to get it if only they will diagnose it. But I will see what happens with the X-rays and blood tests. Thank you for replying to me.
Your GP should do tests that may point to RA and then refer you to a rheumatologist to confirm it. The trouble is we are all being pushed to see medics privately.
Yes I agree with you on that. Sadly it’s happening all over the UK.
Wait What you can’t see a rheumatologist unless you have a diagnosis and they have to be the ones diagnosing ? You really need to see another doctor and Im shocked that no one has reported this doctor for medical abuse of power…. Absolutely appalling.
GP is taking you down the road I had, which resulted in me being referred with RA diagnosis, so hang in. 😉😊
