hello. I have a diagnosis of psa and am prescribed Taltz. I have had right side groin pain for 18 months. Extensive testing has shown mild degenerative changes in my hip joint and an osteophyte. Ortho consultant doesn’t believe this is the source of the pain. An indirect inguinal hernia has been found. The general surgeon feels strongly it is not the source of the pain. He has reluctantly agreed to operate and repair the hernia.
The pain is sharp and burning right deep in my groin. It is brought on by sitting upright, sitting forward, sitting with my knee up, crossing my legs, standing for long periods. If I avoid all these movements there is no pain. I really want some better answers. Where is the pain coming from? Should I ask for a second opinion? Who from? I’m in the U.K. any thoughts would be very welcome. Thank you.

hello Vespa. I don’t know what psa is other than a test for prostate so I don’t know if it’s relevant.
However, if an ortho consultant can’t find the source of pain who, indeed, might?
As you’re in the UK you can self refer to a physiotherapist. You fill in a form online. A physio is a specialist on one’s muscles and tendons so might possibly have ideas. Round my way there’s a 25 week waiting list.
I suddenly thought of psoriatic arthritis after I’d sent the reply. My husband and daughter both have this so I do know a bit about it. The arthritis obviously is going to affect your body long term and sadly there’s no “cure”, just alleviation by exercise, diet and trying different supplements.
My husband takes magnesium and evening primrose oil for the condition, along with pain relief, but these have no effect for my daughter. Try them!
Hi I have an inguinal hernia in my groin, the pain is more a dull ache than sharp, it comes on if I am sitting with my leg straight out in front, if I push or lift to much and sometimes when I walk it's really painful not all the time which I don't understand. I seen a surgeon and he said it was up to me whether I want it repaired or not, but It might end up more painful than it is!I have just to phone him if I want it repaired. I don't really want to make that decision so up to date I haven't done anything except hope that it will be ok. I don't really want surgery. I hope you get the answers you need take care char
