I have various spinal problems including arthritis, spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis. A few days ago I started experiencing a feeling like a heart beat in my lower back .This is becoming more frequent.Has anyone else experienced this and what was the cause?

It may be worth contacting your doctor about the heart beat.

It sounds as though something might be pressing against the pulse point in your back. If it continues to increase it’s probably worth consulting your GP.

Hi I get this in my lower back I believe it’s adrenaline pulsating, I’m always telling gp about it they have no idea, it doesn’t happen all the time but possibly when I sit down. It can be painful it takes my breath away I take 2 or 3 deep breaths and it subsides. Just recently found out that in that area I have the starting of osteoporosis. First ever experience was when I was pregnant then didn’t feel anything for years, but I’ve had it now for the last 4 yrs. Do go and get it checked out professionally.

yes I have this too, sometimes quite dramatic and I worry about aneurysm but I’ve had it a while and still here🤣. In my experience gps and consultants look blank if you tell them what you’re experiencing. I will ask alternative health practitioner and come back. It’s very common in menopause I’ve discovered in discussions on Menopause Matters forum. Whether everyone is experiencing the same thing is unclear. Mine feels like pulse plus adrenaline surge. Better since moving more and healing gut issues.

Yes it is worrying when GP doesn't seem to know that pulsatile tinnitus is not the same as the usual tinnitus. He suggested it was due to wax in ears so I am having wax removal next week.If it still persists I will ask for appointment with different doctor as NICE guidelines say it should be investigated.
