Terrible pain in my right hand wakes me up in the night. I have arthritis in the base of my thumb and my middle finger has reoccurring trigger finger. The pain is now in the whole hand and palm. Lesser so in the left hand.Seems to have started when I began to take Indapamide for blood pressure.
I also take Levothyroxine, Warfarin and Statins.
I'm having a face to face GP appointment at the end of the month so would like any comments before then.

I remember your name, Jackdaw, so I looked up a previous post where you asked about pain relief. I think the answers, such as they are, remain the same. Other posters might add something
I also take warfarin thyroxine and statins and have done so for at least 20 years . I've recently been having severe pains in my left hand and bouts of trigger finger. I take CoCodamol 15/500 which is a prescription strength and it does take the edge off the pain.
Hello Jackdaw50, other tablets often cause side effects with long term use , I have extreme muscole pain& cramp since taking a BP tablet again. In respect of hand pain I would suggest trying wearing a splint at night or winter gloves with a heated pad in might give some releif. Check the side effects of your latest BP drug before going to GP. Of course it could just be a temporary flare of your arthritis. Good luck with appointment and tryiing to find something to ease the thumb pain.
My appointment with GP is particularly to discuss long term effects of levo, 15 years, warfarin 10 years. BP pills recent so may be the culprit. I am increasingly concerned about taking more pills, but will see what he says. Thanks for your helpful suggestions.

You need a Rheumatologist and Yes Im also currently having a PSA attack in my right shoulder, forearm and hand its a nightmare I can’t even make a fist or lift my arm and sleep sucks… I do believe my hypothyroidism aggravates my PSA but get any doctor to believe one problem creates or agitates the other is impossible they are blind.
Do you take your other meds hours away from your thyroid medication and do you have any recent thyroid tests you can post her with ranges?
I've just had a whole series of bloods which are all within range and THS at the lower end of normal. I am now spacing the medication, levo at 7:30, BP 9:00, Warfarin 18:00, Statins 22:00.
Doctor has previously said pains due to levothyroxine so I need to press this. Luckily I am seeing the same doctor which is lucky I guess. Thanks for your advice.
I'd be amazed if the Levo caused pain unless your not taking enough. I've been taking it for 30 years and its vital for life. I also take Riveroxaban, Orencia, Cyclobalamin, Azathyoprine and Ad Cal. It might be worth seeing if your B12 is good as that can also cause pain and tiredness.
When doctors tell you labs are in range this isn’t necessarily always true as many people on the Thyroid site here will tell you and yes Levo can cause issues but this mostly comes down to allergies to some of the inactive ingredients for me its (Acacia) absolute poison to my body.
Statin can also cause people with hypothyroidism to have increase body pains I was on 3 different types of statins and my pain was debilitating (not kidding) it was horrendous.
This is true and my normal GP advised me what to say to the enthusiastic young GP's who might see any results. And it worked with a real laugh from the enthusiastic locum who then said" well thats patient power and me told so I'll leave alone shall I? " and "did Dr _ say anything else" lol
I have hand pain also, fortunately not constant. I like to put my hands & arms in a dishpan of hot water (or a bath)for a while, then I lather with lidocaine cream and cover with gloves. I also hold my hot water bottle on my hands. I try to stretch them and massage the muscle at the top of my thumb several times a day. I feel for you, I can hardly do anything now, especially cooking. I also got compression gloves to wear at night.
I had two stiff fingers on my left hand which I could not straighten. The sterioid injections in each helped a great deal
I have steroid injections in both hands a month apart for the same pain they fix it instantly and I can use my hands quite well again. I had also bi lateral carpal tunnel op about 30 years ago that worked and is still working. Seems this goes toghether for some.
Going to have a second steroid injection at the end of the month for a trigger finger. Last one only lasted a year. Is that normal? Some other medication changes and pain not so bad now. Thanks for your reply.
Mine lasts about 6-8 months that’s about normal for me
I also suffer severe hand pain from arthritis . My son found a device on Amazon that provides both heat and massage (using air compression) that I have found useful when my pain gets really bad
I’ve had pain in hands and fingers for years now and hate it because I can’t play guitar and mandolin anymore
! Losing weight helped with knee pain and adding a little T3 has also helped but losing weight for hands?! Seems I just have to keep them moving and take painkillers though I hate taking them.
As the doctors said if someone found a cure for arthritis they’d be very rich...
I have been taking methotrexate and sulfasalazine, prescribed by my Rheumatologist, my hand pain is rare now.
I have hand pain as well. I’ve had a trapeziectomy on both bases of thumb as well as carpel tunnel surgery. I have arthritis in fingers as well. What I do use is Diclofenac gel on my hands and other parts of my body, it works very well. In the US there is a gel called Voltaren which is virtually the same thing and this is over the counter. My Diclofenac gel is prescription from my neurologist. You may want to see if a version of these are available in the UK
