methotrexate results

My gp asked me to have a blood test for my methotrexate injections I have weekly. I have blood tests for these regularly anyway. So I had no idea why but anyway did My bloods and the results came back abnormal. No idea what that means or what could be wrong. Anybody else been asked to have a specific blood test for being on methotrexate jabs?

Methotrexate can cause liver or kidney problems. Blood tests may detect subtle abnormalities that could alert your doctor to modify your methotrexate dose before a serious problem occurs. You are entitled to see your results. You can either ask reception to print out a copy for you or alternatively if you can access your results on line you can just view them. I find it is really useful and get print outs of everything, which I keep so I have details if what has happened over time.

Thanks piglette yes I will defo ask for a copy and I really do hope it’s a little problem nothing to worry about

I always assume if it is a big problem the doctor would have made more of a fuss at the time!

It wasn’t a big problem at all after all that worrying 🙄. Just my diabetes hbca1 gone a little higher 🤦🏻‍♀️ , nothing to even worry about. Phew

Your absolutely right. Always ask for a copy of your bloods, which your entitled to do. You can then keep a record & compare.

I have been on tablet form for 12 weeks. First 2 months bloods seemed okay. Last Tuesday went and the liver checks were 10 x normal so gp took me off and as I had breathing issues sent me for an X-ray, ecg, another blood test today.

Horrible stuff and I don’t think it made much of an impact anyway.

Omg! My friend works at a hospital and her husband has been diagnosed with RA me too. She won't let her husband take that as she said some of her patients who have kidney problems are on that 😏

My RD specialist nurse said I could have blood tests done 3 monthly.After doing this a couple of times GP asked to go back to monthly to check ifCRP

levels (lowish) a pattern.

I did this a couple of times and CRP continue lowish.

I contacted GP about this different GP said nowt to worry about.

I wasn't lol their colleague was.

Who knows what they're wanting to check , guess it's good they're checking, will preempt

owt serious developing.
