Methotrexate

What does others on here do for loose bowels when taking Methotrexate? Should I cut out and food groups? Does Immodium work or should I ask the Dr.

I have had that problem several times and take 1 immodium. it's fine to take just keep Hydrated...

That’s good to know thank you. I read somewhere ( too much reading up on things) you had to be careful. I’m new to Methotrexate just 6 weeks in 20mg. I like to see how other people manage. I’m hoping it settles down soon.

I really thought of MTX as a GCA thing so I posted on the Arthritis site. I am doing the Sterling trial with Leeds Hospital and Sarah Mackie to see if it works for PMR. So far just the chronic loose bowels no other changes but early days yet. I will have a good trawl through this now. Thank you

Do you have a number for the Rheumatology Nurses' helpline? It might be advisable to ask them and they would let your Rheumatologist know.

Yes thanks I have all the numbers for the Rheumy team at Leeds. I was just looking at how other managed it first. Sarah is my Rheumatologist for the Sterling Trial but my go to is the Nurses first. I get my follow up call next week to when I can report any problems or worries I have. Its still early days yet just 5 weeks in so waiting to see if things settle down soon.

It sounds as if a single dose of Immodium might help.
