Mosaicplasty or knock knees?

I have osteoarthritis in both knees, I was seen by a consultant two years ago who specialises in knee replacements. He thought I would benefit from high tibial osteotomy, then said he would refer me to a different consultant. I now have a clinic appointment in November, so just over two years or three years including the time waiting for the first clinic. I don't have knock knees or bandy legs, they are as straight as a die. If I go ahead with these osteotomies I fear I will then be knock kneed as the osteoarthritis is mainly on the inner knee cartilage. Has anybody had a procedure known as a mosaicplasty? Where plugs of good cartilage is taken from the areas not prone to wear and fitted into holes made ready for these plugs in the worn areas. If so was it worth doing?
