I have just joined this forum and wondered if any one has had basal cell skin cancer as a side effect of the above drug, If so how was it proved that it was due to medication rather than sun damage?
Thanks.

That’s an interesting question, JSharp. I’ve just had a quick read of the Wiki entry on the subject of this drug.
BCC’s are often thought to be caused caused by sun damage and manifest themselves many many years later. They are not necessarily on a site where sun damage is normally found. For instance, my husband has just had a BCC removed from his upper chest and prior to that several on different sites of his body.
I doubt if a definitive answer could ever be found. You would need to study a number of patients with perfect skin and no history of sun damage - and how would you find these - compared with different control groups.
Im on Cosentyx and it comes with the skin cancer warning.
I have been on Ruxolitinib and that has given me skin cancers on the face and scalp. I noticed the end letters of my drug is the same as yours! The Ruxolitinib is to treat my blood cancer problem. In the very long detailed write up that is in the pack that contains the tablets there is a mention "may cause skin cancers". My haematologist made out a Yellow Card because it is a relatively new drug and I have been using it since early in 2014 nor did I have any sign of cancers then.
It could be a coincidence with the drug name, but have a deep read of the drug information that should be with the drug.
Btw, I also have arthritis in my right hip which is why I saw your question,
Best wishes from Michael
