opiods usefulness
Hi nick I take dyhidrocodine for my pain when needed and they do the job xx
So March 2016 the CDC (in the US) published opiate prescribing guidelines. These guidelines are horrible and have spread thru the world. Basically the very wrong info is being propigated thru the media. Many "experts" are claiming that the use of prescription opiates are the blame for the opiate crisis. When in actual fact the problem is with illicit opiates such as heroin and carfentanil which is an illegal type of fentanyl that's being made in China and ship to the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK for sale on the black market. The fact is that even though the government (the US) has cracked down on legally prescribed opiates the death rate from opiates has gone up. This should be an obvious indicator that they were wrong. The problem that needs addressing is the illegal drugs. I can't speak about what you're country is doing exactly but in the US doctors are abandoning patients right and left. This is causing patients who have always been compliant to be left with nothing for pain and forced to go through withdrawals cold turkey. There are two differences between a chronic pain patient and a addict. Number one... a chronic pain patient takes an opiate to get a life and an addict takes opiate to escape life. Secondly an addict is an addict because they have problems stopping the drug because of what it does for them emotionally. A chronic pain patient who has been taking opiates for a while will become dependent on the medication. This simply means that when they stop the medication cold turkey they will experience withdrawal symptoms. But these symptoms do not include a desire to get high the way a drug addict feels. There are many groups in the US that are advocating for the chronic pain patient. It would be worth your while to look for advocacy groups in the UK. Check Facebook for groups that advocate for the patient. Good luck!
I watched half of that programme...was early morning. There was a chap, doubled over in pain, and his morphine had been reduced from 18oml, I think, to 30ml and he couldn't cope. Pain written all over his face. Lost job, can barely walk, just constant pain. Doesn't his dr have a heart? Who lets a patient suffer like that? I take prescribed Co-codamol for a leg ulcer, up to 6 a day. Without it I am housebound. Live alone. With pain, a person will resort to anything to relieve it. I fear some might seek drugs for that relief. Abominable! This Mosley guy looked so pleased when people were telling him how they had come off their'addictions'. Felt so sad for the guy.
