Morning I was up the hospital AEC on Monday with suspected blood clot turned out to be a Bakers Cyst as they present the same.

I am in agony taking painkillers but can hardly walk has anyone had treatment other than tablets for pain? I have read online it can be drained feeling really low.

Hi Victoriablue. Sorry to hear of your painful bakers cyst. I have them in both knees, the left one presenting some 4 months after the right one but they are not too painful. I am currently trying out OSMO patches - but no definite change yet. The best thing I've found is doing stretching excercises before I go to bed. That, and avoiding sitting in low chairs, or getting up too fast. Here's the link healthline.com/health/baker....

Hope this helps.

I was told to use heat then frozen peas on my bakers cyst by my doctor. It's a very painful condition

Hi I was told heat and cold trying paracetamol as well.

It’s supposed to burst and the body absorbes it no sign yet. 😭😭 Rose

Mine did burst but it still seems to fill up a bit at times and causes pain but I also have osteoarthritis in my knees. Rest with your legs up and carry on with the heat and cold plus painkillers I hope you soon manage to get some relief it is very painful x

I am going the Nuffield private today can’t take much more.

My doctor referred me to the hospital but they can’t see me till November 18th.

Like you say the doctors don’t care.

Hoping I get some answers today we shouldn’t have to put up with it.

I have read on the NHS web that it can be drained or steroid injection

Let you know how it goes. Feel for anyone that has them.

Hi Victoria

I have been diagnosed with BC too. Can I ask, how did you find out you had cartilage problem, was it through having an MRI ?

I presume the next step after diagnosis is an MRI to see what the underlying problem is?

Hope your not in too much pain

Sorry to hear you have a BC I went the docs in with a Lump behind my knee. The doctor sent me the hospital same day as it presents same as a blood clot so did a MRI said they could see a lump but no clots. It. Was a relief but still got it not pleasant. Apparently I have Ostio Arthritis in that knee which caused the BC.

Sorry about how I spelt Ostio don’t look right.

Yes I too was relieved it wasn’t a clot but like you say still painful. They gave me a scan but it wasn’t a mri scan. Showed cyst. Now have to wait for covid to be over before I get an mri

Has anyone informed you of how you can avoid BC in the future? As apparently once you get one you’re more susceptible to them returning

Apparently there is no treatment as such. So they say it can burst all you can do is take pain killers. I went private in October last year as I was going away November and he said take ibrufen. But I can’t take it.

Hope you have better luck than I did ask about draining it as I had heard didn’t want to go down that route.

So here I am still got it 😭some days not as bad others can’t hardly walk.

Take care stay safe. Rose
