Hi first time here. My problem is I think no one takes me seriously. I have arthritis in my big toe knees and back. I have had it about 9 years,I have been doctors I have seen physio and specialist and in all that time I’m giving exercises I’m on co codamol & gel that’s it. I try and do most exercises and keep active but I’m in constant pain if I walk after a little while my foot feels like it’s on fire I rest but afterwards I get wipe out have to go home and put feet up and rest as I feel so knackered. My back I can deal with and my knees but it’s the pain from walking or standing. All I get told it’s wear and tear and nothing to worry about and get sent home until the circle reappears doctors, physio, specialist.i have tried special shoes insoles but nothing helps.any help or recommendations would be appreciated Thank you so much.

Thank you for Reply originally I was told that there was nothing to see that was causing the pain that was from a specialist and then sometime after I saw another specialist who said x rays reviled it was arthritis the problem now which I am sure happens with a lot of sufferers it’s is getting subsequently worse I’m at the point I don’t know what to do anymore. It will be back to doctors to be referred yet again.

The problem is that your GP might have to refer you to a rheumatologist to get a definitive diagnosis, and that might take some time. Sorry I can't be of more help.

It's not a reply as such but I do sympathize I have problem with my discs and arthritis in back hands and feet. My back keeps me awake at night trying to find a less painful position so tossing and turning. Standing on my feet first thing and moving is so painful I try to get out with my dog most days but cannot walk very far the more I walk the more painful it gets and standing in the same place to talk with anyone I think you know what that is like. I am on co-codamol I cannot tolerate opioids I have had physio etc. and the same as you I just end up back where I began. If you ever find an answer please let me know as I can really sympathize it's quite a nightmare

It is so nice to hear from other people at one point I did feel so alone as the health professionals just did not take it serious, sometimes I felt like am I imagining the pain 😥 but anyone who has arthritis know there not imaging it!

Big toe feels like it's on fire possibly gout which is Arthritis and can be controlled by tablets which you have to take for rest of your life even if you haven't had attack in decades. Or you could try a gout diet which is no red meat including turkey, no dairy, no boozing, nothing with monosodium glutamate in. You can eat Fish but not oily , vegetables, some fruit, nuts. Watch the weight drop off you. I tried the diet but decided on the tablets.

My sympathies, I have arthritis in both feet too. The podiatrist told me that it hurts whilst it's active, but in between flares it isnt so much of a problem. I'm assuming there must be some truth in that because my feet randomly hurt or don't. Good footwear helps (and bad footwear is agony even on a great day)

first diagnosis was Plantar Fascitis, maybe gout, oops not that let's try PMR and treat for that, oop, can't be that , let's try arthritis and treat for that--prednisone and methotrexate, oops, maybe that's not it. Go to the rhumey with a gout attack--Why didn't I tell hime I had gout two years ago. But I did and I did it in a letter plus contact with two other doctors. Okay have I had any attacks in that time. Yes but I went to my GP. Rhumey is now annoyed with me, gace me some tabs and told me he'd see me in 6 months, Very frustrated and do feel like the invisible patient. Do talk to the rhuemy about gout.

Thank you I find as soon as you mention arthritis doctors tend to not take it serious. I have been put on a waiting list for a specialist now 😃 not sure what specialist, that was in June only just heard from them and they are saying there is a 8 week waiting list lol I have already waited 4 months now got to wait another 8 weeks then I will get an appointment craziness!

So sorry to hear that you are suffering like this. I have arthritis I my big toes as well, but I am not in constant pain and it does not stop me walking.

Good shoes and inlays are a must as is warmth. Wool socks most of the year, socks in bed. I do not feel the cold, just the pain. The gym has a wobble board which I use every week. I have read about anti inflammatory diet and am doing my best.

I do hope you find your way through this.

Howdy

I have OA in my neck and toes, about a year ago I discovered turmeric and black pepper capsules which I take daily with my breakfast, the pain isn't anywhere near as bad when I use them.

Give them a go, but if you are on blood thinners of any kind you can't use them.

Look into them.

Thank you I have tried this thanks to your advise, for many weeks I did not notice a change but just recently the pain is not quite as bad I don’t know if it’s just temporary or fingers crossed maybe your recommendation is working.

Hello, I highly recommend L-arginine cream for arthritis and joint pains. You can try this product that my father used in his arthritis and fortunately it works on him. wholefamilyproducts.com/sho...
