Steriod injections in my feet

Hi,

I am new to your community, I have been offered injections for my feet/ankles. Originally it was going to be scan guided, now it has been decided to do manually.

At the moment I take Tramadol as I have lower back, neck and elbow arthritis too, this medicine does help.

My question is, how have others found steriod injections in there feet? Is it painful to have? And is there something else I could do different?

Don't know about feet but I've had them in ankles, knees hands and wrists, wee pin prick

I have had injections into my heels twice. I have also had injections into the top of my left foot, once i was put to sleep but the second time I asked to stay awake as I have problems for quite a while after having anesthetic mainly with sickness. They had a sort of x ray thing above my foot to guide it in and it was done manually. I won't say it was painless as that would be a lie but it was only a very short time maybe a couple of minutes and afterwards it was pain free for some 6 months. Alas I can have no more now and rely on painkillers which do not work very well at all.

I had injections in both my mind foot areas. I can honestly say that it’s taken the pain. Only last wee one foot hurt a bit but ok again. It was painful being done and one foot worse than the other but I’d definitely recommend it. I know the OA has spread down to some of my toes now! Good luck.

Hi, I had a steroid injection in my big toe joint, as I was told it was severely arthritic, and moreover, I couldn’t get down the stairs in the morning without ending up in tears, it was so painful! Since having the injection I have been able to walk without any pain, and I’ve been told this could last for anything up to two years. As I teach Pilates, which incidentally is a very good antidote to arthritis, I am hoping the injection will last two years, as the next step is to fuse the joint so I can’t bend it, which would mean my Pilates teaching would be somewhat restricted.

I wish you luck :-)

Just wanted to update, I had the injections and literally all I felt was a scratch and they have worked beautifully, no painful throbbing at the end of the day. Just now and again it feels like somebody has taken a run and a jump onto my feet. And if I stretch my feet they do lock and it’s painful until they release, but I can avoid stretching them. So all good.
