New to Humira Pen

Hello Fighters! Using Humira in my battle along with Methotrexate and Prednisone now. I was wondering what I may expect besides what the doctor says. Any warriors experience please? Thank you! Grateful for this group!

Hi all, my first post on here. I first started getting ankle pain about 18 months ago and my GP referred me to the rheumatology dept. at the hospital as I have Crohns and the two are often related which I didn't realise until then. I was already on methotrexate 25mg tablets for the Crohns so they tried giving me steroids, by injection at first, then a course of tablets, then injection again over about a year by which time I was also having pain in my knees and great difficulty walking. I'm very lucky compared to some of the people on here in that the pain is only bad when trying to walk so I get relief all the time I'm not on my feet (I'm 56 by the way, and have always led an active life until now).

Back to the point, I started Humira back in April, prescribed by my Crohns nurse but with the hope that it would help with the arthritis but I didn't have any improvement, on the plus side no nasty side effects either. A couple of weeks ago I began using injections for the methotrexate and there does seem to be a slight lessening of the stiffness and pain in both knees and ankles so fingers crossed. Still on the co-codamol as can't take nsaids but hopeful this could be the start of a treatment that works. Wishing you every success with the Humira but this may be an option if you need it. Hi Helloshelly,

I was on Humira for 11 months, it didn't work for me. I also suffered from site reactions unfortunately.

Take the injection pen out of the fridge at least 30minutes before hand, take an antihistamine, which will help if you have a reaction, I'm not saying you will.

Also I found putting ice on it in a teatowel or flannel helps.

Loads of people find great relief from using Humira, I wish you well my lovely. Rie
