Need new hips

I'm 68 in good health but have had arthritic problems for about 10 years. Only became really problematic last March, had xrays, GP said replacements indicated because of the damage.Told consultant I didnt want to leave job just yet as it wasnt that bad. He was ok with that and referred me for physio. Got worse this summer and had new xrays. Saw registrar who frightened me saying hip replacements or wheelchair. Also worried he couldnt find much pulse in my feet so referring to cardio vascular dept. "We dont want your foot dropping off after the operation" Wasnt mad about his attitude. Feel rather depressed and would like more info. Big toes go a bit blue if I sit around in our cold house with no socks but dunno what the symptoms are for poor circulation. Anyone help?
