My first time ...

I'm 66, recently retired, but find myself more energetic and enthusiastic since I stopped working.

I've had osteoarthritis for about 10 years, I've had both hips replaced and am on the waiting list for a full knee replacement. Recently referred to a rheumatologist, I find myself now with psoriatic arthritis, and about to discuss my options with that doctor. I've never been a worrier, but must confess to being a little anxious about the future as I want to continue an active lifestyle.

Anyone with any ideas, I'm happy to listen.

Hi as you have retired you probably have more time to do many interesting things that make you happy,as you say you are more energetic and enthusiastic so it seems you have a good positive attitude,i think thats half the battle with any health issue, positive thinking,i know as when i get myself a bit down i feel negative and twice as bad,its only normal you feel a little anxious but from what you say you have already coped well and no doubt you will carry on coping,i havent really come up with many ideas for you but keep being positive and enjoying retirement, and others on here will come along with good ideas i am sure

Thanks, Worried111, it's good to talk to other people, and any advice, medical, lifestyle or any other is valuable. Sometimes reading other people's posts it seems that my aches and pains are mild compared with some, but it doesn't stop me comparing what I used to be able to do with what I can achieve now. I've always tried to be positive, and I intend to carry on like that. I suppose my main concern is getting onto new drugs or treatments and finding that I'm affected by unpleasant or debilitating side-effects ... but I have great faith in the NHS, particularly our hospital which I can't praise highly enough. Onwards and upwards!

Thanks for your support; don't forget to take your own advice, it's good!
