Pain management is sometimes described about taking the edge off the pain so that it's easier to maintain day to day activities and to do the physiotherapy exercises.

Are you a member of the Pain Concern forum on HU? There are sometimes useful discussions of various techniques there - like this one about Distraction that has practical contributions in the comments: healthunlocked.com/painconc...

ETA: I know that people vary in their response to physiotherapy or Sports Medicine but I've been fortunate in that I tend to respond well to physical therapy for musculoskeletal issues. It's taken a while, depending on the issue, but it's been night and day for me and made my life so much more manageable.

Hi Grahamoxo, I have arthritis in my neck for about six years , and I was being very sick when moving my head , a few years ago I was given Duloxetine which is an antidepressant, but it works on nerve pain really well , without this medication my life would be horrible, maybe something like this would help you , as your GP for his opinion, take care Jacqui

Having had A.S. for over 50 years and a totally fused neck not a lot of fun but a very soft and not very deep neck collar should help when required, good luck,
