Hi, I had a shooting pain in the back of my head and a pressure like pain I was told by my doctor that the osteoarthritis had progressed to the top of my spine and this was what was causing it. He did not even look at my neck so I'd be interested in what your rummy has to say next Monday, good luck.

Hermes123. Most of your symptoms I share with you! But fortunately for me not your skull condition, I too have a neck problem to which the Consultant say's to dangerous to operate, yet I have met younger people who had the same condition, who have had micro surgery through there throat to get to the offending nerves, someone at our club said it was the best thing he had ever had done, it change his life so you can imagine how frustrated I feel about this. To be honest I think this is an ages thing due to the cost of this type of surgery, not every older person reacts the same way to surgery, if I end up with a result that is all that matters as it is about positive attitude towards surgery, that dose not bother me one bit, but no one can be bothered to put one to a cycle-logical test to see if one is comfortable with having this very serious procedure or not. I do have problems like server headache and high temperature in the top half of my face. So Good Luck I hope you soon get sorted.

Hi, I have Severe OA of my neck/shoulders/arms, diagnosed about 6mnths ago. I have the pains in my neck, to me it feels like someone is flicking every single nerve in my head all the time & it's blummin painful. I'm only on Gabapentin at the moment, but it's helping me so far, but I'm only at the beginning of this, as it progresses, they'll be no doubt other meds will be needed. But carrying on regardless 😊

Hello! I had a severe GCA attack that landed me in the hospital twice earlier this year. I was diagnoised with PMR in 2004 and had been dealing with the flares off and on since then. I also have RA and some other issues that cause great pain. GCA can cause what feels like pain in your skull. Specifically it can make your jaw extremely sore to the point you feel like you can't fully open your mouth. When I have that specific pain I know it's GCA. I just had my second infusion of Actemra which has been in trials for GCA and PMR with huge success. I'm currently weaning off the prednisone because within two weeks of the first Actemra infusion the GCA headache, jaw pain and eye issues started to diminish. It hasn't worked so quickly on the RA yet and I don't expect it to for about another month or so but being able to wean off the prednisone while still effectively treating the GCA is a godsend. I'm fortunate to have an amazing rheumatologist who I just started seeing a few months ago. I also have a neuropain doc who's been following me for five years now. I started with the Butrans patch and eventually developed an allergy to the adhesive a couple of years ago. He then put me on the oral equivalent, buprenorphine, at a small to moderate dose which I have remained at with great success. I don't know if anything I've shared may be of help to you but I sincerely wish you the very best and hope you can find some relief-

All the best-

Pls can u tell me what GCA is.

I really don't know who to talk to, but my skull is unbelievably painful most of the time, to the point I feel like banging it against the wall for relieve.

Also what does PMR and RA stand for ???

Oh my goodness I am so sorry for not getting back to you sooner. GCA is Giant Cell Arteritis. PMR Polymyalgia Rheumaticia. RA Rheumatoid Arthritis.

GCA headaches are so incredibly painful. I literally felt like I was going to die if it did not stop. I'm here for you if you need an ear to listen or someone to vent to. I am so sorry for the late reply.
