Hi there

Speaking from personal experience do not worry I spent 2 years having all the injections and medications and treatments to try and ease the pain in my wrists .I was wearing 3 metal supported splints on top of each other to give my wrists the support they needed just to carry on working as a joiner .The only time I removed the splints was to shower other than that they were 24/7 .Finally at Christmas this year I had a partial fusion on my left wrist, which was the worst,it was so badly worn that my surgeon removed quite a lot of bone and fitted a metal plate over the gap to hold things together while the bones fused .The operation and resulting recovery I found to be far less painful than the original injury .I am now 10 months post surgery ,and apart from the fact that my left hand won't tilt backwards as far as my right does I am fine .The splints have gone completely and the wrist get stronger by the day ,I will definatly be having the right wrist done at some time my only problem is that because of my manual job, I had to be off work for 4 months other than that no problem

Hope this helps ,if you need any more info I will gladly try to give it

all the best

had the op at long last , i was due for it on the 2 of november, it was canceled the day before ,i was not over pleased. i went yesterday 16 november .i went through all the form filling got my bum showing nighty, on, talking to both consultants ,a phone call for one of them,my operation was canceled again i was livid, but i got my clothes back on i was walking down the corridor on the way out when a nurse grabbed me the op was back on, all i`m waiting for now is the pain to go away and get some arm/wrist movement , they said it would be in the new year before i could start driving i hope it is not going to be that long, how is your wrist now, good i hope?

feeling fine, no more waking up through the night with painful wrist. i can't bend my wrist downwards, but that's no problem. i will admit it was painful for a couple of weeks after the op and it seemed i was in plaster for a long time , but it was worth it.

I had a big bandage and a half plaster cast for about 2/3 weeks ,then a full cast (hand to elbow) for about 3/4 weeks. therapy was just one visit he showed me how to exercise my wrist and hand, get it done it's worth it to be free of the pain , my left wrist is starting now , if it gets any worse i will have that one done also. good luck.
