Could just be dry skin, I have it and it can be worse at night. If it is, usually you should see some flaking especially if you scratch. It also worsens during winter when heat is on a lot so air is dryer, and recently I have noticed that even extended hot periods with ac on can do the same thing.

Also I have read that serotonin makes the brain more sensitive to itch, so possibly medications that raise serotonin, such as SSRI antidepressants, could make itching worse. I take Cymbalta for fibromyalgia pain and I think it may make my itching worse. I take it at night, so it might be worse at night for that reason, although I have not noticed that lately.

Dry skin can be a sign of hypothyroidism among other things.

Itching on the whole body can be an allergic reaction to medication, which could be dangerous. If you have other symptoms such as swelling around your face, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing, get to ER pronto!

I hope you get an answer soon.
