Hi everyone, I’ve been on Sertraline for 2 weeks now and have lost my sense of taste and smell completely. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

Hi PAMil,

Thank-you for your message.

I was on Sertraline in combination with other medication when I was diagnosed with Postpartum Psychosis in 2015. I’m not sure if you have had postpartum psychosis, so our experiences might be a bit different.

I don’t remember it affecting my taste, but I did have other side effects that lasted for a few weeks when I started the medication, but they did settle down. Although I know everyone’s experiences on medication can be different.

Please do talk to someone about the side effects if they are worrying you.

Take care and I hope things settle for you,

Sally x

I haven’t experienced that but feel so rough on mine. Been on 25 mg for two weeks. Hardly sleeping. Barely eating. Racing thoughts. Knotted stomach. So tempted to come off it as wasn’t like this before taking it.

25 mg is a really low dose. But if it bothers you talk to your psychiatrist. There’s lots of stuff out there... maybe it isn’t the medication for you

Going to talk to my doctor today. I’m not under the care of a psychiatrist. Thanks
