Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to tell you things have not been great...not as dreadful as before, but the medication is not working and daughter and baby are going into a M&BU tomorrow..she has thoughts thats he's a robot, that he is full of chemicals ..and that the man is telling her he (baby) is trying to make her ill..and that he is going to do something bad...so its been decided that a unit might be the best place for them..shes still feeding him but hes feeding on demand and he demands it all the time...so sad that what was such a positive the voices in her head are trying to make it into a negative..but fingers crossed all will be ok in the end...

Hi RedRosie36, thanks for your post and I’m sorry to hear things aren’t great with your daughter. It’s good to hear that she is going to the MBU tomorrow and I’m sure that is a comfort to you too. I know from my own experience how amazing the support was when I was treated in an MBU and I’ll be keeping you all in my thoughts. I hope you’re doing ok, take care, xx

Hi RedRosie36

Good to have an update but obviously sad to hear that your daughter is stil poorly .... I hope, and I'm sure that your daughter will be able to access the right treatment for her in the MBU; as Ellie mentioned, I also went to MBU for several months and I couldn't have wished for a better way to start recovering from PP.... very best wishes to you and your family - Jas xx

Hello RedRosie36,

in a way I am so pleased that your daughter and her baby are going to be cared for in an MBU, She will be under professional support and no doubt will improve gradually.

Wishing you all the best, hang in there...it will get better...

Thinking of you.

Hi RedRosie36,

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter, but I’m glad she has a bed at a MBU where she and the baby will be well looked after. I noticed you said she was still feeding on demand - would she be happy for baby to be formula/bottle fed to allow her to get more sleep? I had PPP with my 1st son and was in a MBU, and have just had my 2nd son 10 weeks ago but luckily am keeping well, one of the things that I think has definitely helped has been to move to formula after a few days of giving baby breastmilk/the colostrum so that I could have more time to sleep and my husband can also share night feeds. For me I would say that not having the extra worry and stress of breastfeeding has kept me well, and well as the extra sleep! Just wanted to mention it in case no one else has yet. Good luck and keep us posted on how she’s doing! Sending lots of love xxx

Hi littlemiss85 - I think that’s a great suggestion for baby to have a bottle at night - sleep is so important and sleep deprivation was such a huge factor in my relapse - all the best - Jas

Hi RedRosie

It's good to hear an update from you, but sad that your daughter is struggling, and having these horrible thoughts. It's so great she has got a place in the mother and baby unit. I know it must feel sad to not have her coping at home, but the MBU really will be the best place for her, she'll get such expert care, and they will be able to sort out her meds, and get her better, and she won't be separated from her baby! I was in a MBU myself and I really can't rate it high enough. And if I remember right from your previous posts, the MBU isn't too far from where you live?

I would agree re considering formula feeding so others can feed the baby. I think for me the breastfeeding was a trigger, and not getting enough sleep too.

Take care, we're all thinking of you, never hesitate to write to us on here,

Ellie X

Hello RedRosie36

I hope everything went well today with your daughter and grandson going into the MBU. At least she will be receiving specialist care, although it must be a worry for you and family. Try to rest yourself now you know they are in safe hands. xx

Hope all goes well, RedRosie! We are thinking of you.

Hi RedRosie36,

Hope your daughter settles into the MBU. There were some great staff in the unit I was admitted to and they were so supportive.

Hang in there, a distressing time for you all. Thinking of you x
