Meds.

Hi ashley

I'm sorry you had a hard day yesterday.

I think thoughts can come and go. The important thing I would say is to keep a brief diary detailing your mood and thoughts and go back to your psychiatrist if you don't see improvement. the meds may need to be increased or changed too.

I also found that meds wasn't all the answer... therapy was so important top in helping me to change my negative thought patterns.

You're going to get there ashley I know it's so awful and scary now. But you will. You'll have more and more good days until the bad days really will be no more.

Write whenever you need to. We're here for you xx

Don't give up. I was like this for about a year but not on medicine. I wish I'd taken medicine earlier-it helps tho it may not feel like it. ask Dr for more medicine. I had some really good women ministers at church who would just let me talk nonstop. That helped me a lot. Also going over to friends houses and just sleeping. Walking helped too (just short walks round the neighbourhood). Sometimes playing games on the computer for about 20 mins helped my mind switch off from the day. Most of my problems stemmed from anxiety, not so much depression. I figured when I rested my brain, it got better, but the medicine (antipsychotic) was the thing that really helped me most of all.

Hello Ashley031

Sorry you're not so good ...... there are good days and not so good on the way to recovery. Try to focus on your appointment this week with your therapist and talk openly about how you really feel. I also needed more than medication to help lift my low moods and thoughts.

It's not easy for you but with the right care and treatment you honestly will be well again. You are a great mum :) so don't let your thoughts tell you otherwise. I hope the therapist can suggest coping strategies for your thoughts. Perhaps listening to music might help. My anthem to PP is Labi Siffre's "Something inside so Strong" " .........I know that I can make it though you're doing me wrong, so wrong ...You thought that my pride was gone .... Oh no .... Something inside so Strong."

We are all with you. Take care and stay safe.

Hello Ashley031

Just wondering if you are feeling more supported after your appointment with the therapist?

Thinking of you ..... stay safe and take care.

Hi lilybeth,

When you were going through this did I still get some bad thoughts still. I feel like this will never go away. These thoughts are of me hurting the people i love. I haven't seen my therapist yet bc all I do is work. I put work before my health. I just want this to end

Hi Ashley031, thanks for coming back to the forum to let us know how you are doing. I know how difficult it can be to balance work alongside everything else, but I would really encourage you to go and see a health professional and get some further support. Recovery from PP is absolutely possible, and you can get through this. I know it's hard, and we have been where you are now. Thinking of you, please try and take some time for yourself too. Take care, xx

Hello Ashley

I'm sorry to hear you are still struggling with your thoughts. With the right medical care and treatment you will eventually recover although that seems a long way off right now. I know it's necessary for you to work but is it possible to have a few hours off so that you can find more professional support? Perhaps someone in your family could find help on your behalf if you have to work?

Is it possible to have your medication reviewed? I think you need more support than just your therapist, although you find this helpful. It might be that finding the right balance of medication makes a difference but you will need professional help to consider this. Try to keep a note of your moods on a daily basis so that one of the care team will be able to see at a glance how you are struggling and hopefully find a solution.

We are all with you ..... stay safe and take care xx

Hi guys,

I do believe my medication should be a higher dose. Even though I'm on a low dosage I do see a difference. It's just sometimes the thoughts come back and I'm sick of it. I want to feel better.

Hello Ashley

Good to hear from you. Perhaps you can speak to your doctor about your medication? Eventually the thoughts will fade and you will slowly feel better. It can take a while so speak to your family and surround yourself with as much support as you can to get you through this.

Take care.

Hi Ashley, sorry to hear things still aren't quite right for you.

It does take time for the meds to work and the thoughts to fade. When do you have your next appointment?

I remember when I was unwell I was impatient to get better but it does take time so hang on in there and try to remember how far you've come.

And lillybeths suggestion of surrounding yourself with people who care for you during tough times is a good one and of course we're always here for you.

Take care,

Amy
