May i just ask is this something that has appeared since going on the citalopram because it may be an idea to speak with your GP if it has, or maybe your not eating correctly. I never suffered with this but there are different side effects and everyone is different in what they get but if it worries you hun then i would suggest just speak with your GP to find out if this is one of the side effects and if so how would you be able to sort this out so its not so much a problem, but ask yourself about your eating habits too since going on the tabs it could be that has also changed. Good luck and keep us all informed x

Hi Deborah, I had a bit of heartburn thats all, now I get get lots of burping & wind. I am on omeprazol for this problem but it doesnt seem to be doing much. When I first started taking them I had no apetite & just didnt want to eat also lost a few pounds but thats all behind me know eating as normal.Spoke to my GP & she said decreas the citalopram by 10mg for a week to see if that makes a difference, which she seems to think will do the trick.Cheers for now

I've been on 20mg citralopram for just over 1 week and have had lots of problems with diarrhoea, but I already have IBS so I wasn't too suprised that this was one of the side effects for me. The doc has said side effects can last 2-4 weeks so if it's been longer than that then I would definitely call your GP. x

the Citalopram can have this side affect, not everyone experiences it,i just had increased anxiety with it,which again is a side affect of this drug, one thing i do when taking medication,is educate my self on the pros and cons.thus knowing what to expect,my doctor put me on Citalopram.and she did say it has side affects, she didn't go through all of them, so i took the time to find out myself.this drug didn't suit me personally,so i changed to Prozac,go to your doctor to put your mind at rest, the side affect with medication like this, does pass with time,so don't think its not suiting you,it could be that this particular med may benefit in the long run,but speaking to your GP is also advised with any med side affect, they all have side affects Gretch, its all down to what we can cope with until our system is use to the med, some people are lucky and suffer no side affects, but most people do.
