Has anyone tried GABA for anxiety or depression?

This is my 3rd day taking it. I don’t feel a difference.

It's amazing stuff but are you on medication?

Hi.

No I’m not on meds. I don’t plan on taking them. That’s why I’m looking for other methods.

That's good you aren't mixing GABA with pharma meds - I love GABA it is great for calming things down if that is what you need , safer than 5htp which can be bought on the high St in UK yet GABA can only be bought online

Do you know which meds it is contraindicated for?

Well if someone is on an ssri or an antipsychotic such as olanzapine then taking GABA could be harmful bc GABA is inhibitory as are ssri s and olanzapine so together they could cause too much of a downer from too much serotonin which in worst case scenario could cause serotonin syndrome

The opposite of inhibitory is excititory

Excititory is to do with dopamine

I tried it for 3 months but didn't seem to make any difference so weaned off as you can't just stop cold turkey. In hind sight it didn't help with anxiety but helped with joint pain

Not what you're looking for?
