Maybe they are just letting you know no matter how you feel whatever way you feel the most comfortable with is ok to do ?
Having a good relationship with your therapist is most important and part of that is feeling comfortable asking them questions and so I would ask next time I spoke to them what they meant , if you do and you find out I hope you will let us know what they meant as my reply is just a guess
