Tight throat (feeling something is stuck)

Does anyone get a tight feeling in their throat, almost like it’s gripping inside or something is stuck in there?

This sensation seems to come and go but sometimes is quite scary as it feels like my throat is closing up.

I can eat and drink and breath this doesn’t effect swallowing it’s just irritating and scary as I don’t know what it is ... GP’s seem to be dismissing it

Hi Jayde, the medical terminology is called "globus hystericus" a physical symptom

caused by a psychological issue. Nothing to worry about and is why your GP probably

dismissed it. xx

Hi lovely, thank you for replying ... it would make sense why it comes and goes it almost feels like Its tensing without me physically doing it😂 also seems to be on one side which is strange :/ xx

Nothing is really strange Jayde when it comes to anxiety.

The fact that you can eat, drink and breathe is proof that there is nothing

obstructing your throat. Our muscles get so tight that it can cause all kind

of weird sensations. It might help to gently massage the front of your neck,

use a microwavable hot pak on the back of your neck and sip on some warm

liquids which will help relax the throat muscle.

I know how uncomfortable a sensation it could be but also know the more we

Anxiety keeps on surprising me😂 but yes I just need to keep telling myself it’s okay and keep calm about it, thank you I really appreciate your support xx
