Withdrawal?

Hello! I am in withdrawal from med I took Zoloft for 5 weeks and now feel withdrawal symptoms.

I'm getting a to z symptoms now like zaps and pins and needles and general pain like and just feel crying and moody spells. Seem to laying around a lot and feel like I'm more in my head thinking and dwelling about things.

I also constantly talk or text family saying my symptoms and feel in despair and say things to them.

Thanks!

Can I ask why you stopped taking the meds? Withdrawal can be rough. I myself have gone off my meds or forgotten for days on end before and suffered symptoms. For me I felt constantly sea sick when I was on steady ground not moving. Sweating, nervousness, nausea, and a general feeling of brain fog and head zaps. It’s not fun. I’ve have also suffered with side effects of going back on meds. For me I got back on Zoloft and now I stay on the lowest dose daily possible just so I never have to experience withdrawal or the side effects of going back on meds. I don’t like having to take them everyday but I’ve pretty much resigned myself to this is the way it is now. I have to take them because I don’t want to suffer withdrawal from going off or risk having to go through the hell of side effects going back on. I feel now I’m dependant on them and don’t have a choice unless I want to put myself through the terrible symptoms again. I take 25mg/day, I try not to get my health anxiety going and wonder what the long term effects of taking these drugs is & do they know yet? How long have they been around to know. If I go down that road of thought it triggers my health anxiety. Lol I’m medicated and I still suffer relapses from generalized anxiety. The Zoloft certainly isn’t a magic cure like i thought it would be when I was younger. You take medicine to cure but in reality it’s just to maintain. I still have to practice mindfulness all the time and I do yoga for 1 hour about 5 days a week. Mostly I try not to get in the mindset of blaming & being hard on myself when I am suffering. Be kind to yourself & allow yourself time to feel better. Talking to family and friends is a great idea but sometimes it’s hard when you feel like you’re suffering alone or in isolation and you fear they see you as weak or silly, melodramatic or unstable. Non of these things are true. You’re just voicing your thoughts to get them out so you don’t dwell. You are strong because it takes a lot to admit when you’re feeling not whole or insecure. It’s ok, it will pass, when you’re having those feelings of panic or despair just let it ride over you and and let it pass. You know it will, it’s has before and it will again. Eventually you will learn to not be afraid of it and you will stop paying attention to it and those feelings will start to become less and less and go away. I know I’ve left a long reply but I hope you know you’re not alone in your experience even though it feels that way. This is why there are so many wait lists and it’s hard to get access to good help quickly. Because there are so many of us! We just don’t get to wear it like a badge so you don’t know. We suffer in silence wondering why can’t we get it together? You shouldn’t have to feel shame, shame keeps us isolated, isolation keeps us sick. You’ll be ok, just keep talking about it and really get yourself into learning about anxiety and mindfulness. Your mind and your thoughts are a very powerful thing it can confuse you but you can change your mind and how you look at things. Cognitive behavioural therapy is key. And you have the power to do that yourself. You can start right now. Get some self help podcasts or books find something that speaks to you. It will help.
