Today is my first day starting zoloft for anxiety and depression and I'm scared. The doctor started me on 25mg for first week then I'm supposed to up it to 50 after that. Anyone have experience with zoloft?

Hi Ajkjtj, don't compare to anyone else. This dose, this medication was chosen by your doctor for you alone. The best thing you can do is take it w/o any reserves, believing it holds the key to your success. Do not read anything about it. Taking it with an open mind will guarantee you a better outcome.

Wish you well. You've just taken the first step forward in getting better. :) xx

Did you get more anxious in the beginning? Because that's what I'm dealing with right now. I know it's only the second day but was just wondering if that's normal.

Yeah you can get worse before you get better can take a few weeks to get over the side effects.I felt really tired at the start too till my body got used to it more

.. also, they can make you feel a little more anxious for first week ... if you can stick with them. My old GP stated few years ago ... that the natural serotonin in your brain is taken over by the tabs, so it slows down, but the meds haven’t reached a point as yet to make up for the loss ... everyday we take a tablet it is like a dripping tap ... takes a little time ! until it reaches to what is required to make us feel better. Hope that makes sense ... if you find the beginning to much ... ask the GP for something along side meds ... like an antihistamine to take the edge of it ... good luck

Hi Ajkjtj ... I started on them, I think it’s good you starting on 25 mg ... I didn’t give mine a chance because I find changes hard I decided to go back to my old ones. Many of friends take Zoloft ... they are very safe and popular. GP told me that they are the very first ones they go for when prescribing for anxiety and depression ! ... you will feel better soon on them, stick with it ... my GP said 50 mg is vet low ... so I think you will be absolutely fine xx we are all here for you xx good luck !
